Logan was named by the school children of historic Barrio Logan, in San Diego. They were challenged by PMG and the Port of San Diego to learn about the Working Waterfront, what tug boats do, and then to come up with a name that would be suitable for a hard-working boat in their own backyard. The Name Logan obviously refers to barrio Logan, but also refers to Logan Elementary School, and the children who call the neighborhood home. Logan was originally the "Guppy", built close to Barrio Logan at Campbell Shipyard to serve it's own tug boat needs. Our Company President, Steve Frailey actually learned the art of "jerk-line" towing on the Guppy in the 1980's moving large tuna clippers, yachts and Navy ships in and out of dry-dock and piers.
