The Agua Hedionda Lagoon in Carlsbad, California is an ecologically diverse and beautiful waterway that serves as an important source of drinking water for Southern California. The lagoon also provides recreational opportunities for visitors, such as fishing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Maintenance dredging was recently required to remove a flood-tide shoal in the lagoon and approximately 300,000 cubic yards of sand were removed and placed on adjacent beaches. Pacific Dredge & Construction was responsible for the dredging and overcame a challenge with water access by reducing equipment height and coordinating with the tides. The state-of-the-art fully electric dredge, SANDPIPER, was used to complete the project efficiently and with minimal disturbance to neighbors. Poseidon Resources awarded Pacific Dredge & Construction the contract for the next 8 years of dredge cycles, indicating their satisfaction with the company's performance.
