Pacific Tugboat Service and the San Diego Maritime Museum go way back, so when the Museum hand-built a replica of the historic San Salvador, it faced a centuries old challenge, getting her into the water! The Museum, PTS and others collaborated on various methods that would transfer the vessel from its building location on-shore at Spanish Landing to its natural habitat, San Diego Bay. The result was a unique roll-on to a PTS deck barge, transport to Marine Group Boat Works, and a final lift and gentle launch into the water, which culminated in much applause and many sighs of relief! We enjoy this kind of teamwork that brings us closer to our customers and really defines what a shared, common goal can accomplish.
