Pacific Maritime Group was selected by OASIS to be part of the USTRANSCOM Team transporting and launch of the newly commissioned ACTUV vessel Sea Hawk from Gulf Port, Mississippi to San Diego, California. PMG had previously demonstrated expertise and capability when it safely transported the original ACTUV Sea Hunter down the West Coast to San Diego. PMG has the heavy-lift, floating crane assets required to offload complex special project cargo of this kind. The Port of San Diego, SSA Pacific and PMG enjoy long term relationships, which is beneficial when a two-crane lift of a high value asset such as Sea Hawk is performed at the Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal, and the reason PMG was tasked by OASIS to take lead during this critical phase The multi-day operation also utilized the nearby PMG Pier and facility for recovery and transshipment of blocking, lashing and cradle components. The successful outcome was due in large part to the various parties working together seamlessly and placing safety first.
